Notice on Extension of Prohibitory Order by District Administration Offices

Considering the rise in COVID-19 cases, the District Administration Office ("DAO") of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur on May 11, 2021 issued a notice extending the Prohibitory Order ("Order") till May 27, 2021. Previously, the Order was imposed till May 12, 2021. As per the Order, the following activities shall remain prohibited within Kathmandu Valley:

  • public meetings, assemblies, conferences, seminars, trainings and other places of public gatherings

  • operation of businesses related to salons, beauty parlors, gyms and others, except those providing essential services

  • movement of both public and private vehicles, except those providing essential services

  • all public services, except essential services


The Order, however, allows movement of employees working in essential services based on ID cards and vehicle passes issued by the respective offices. Further, banks are allowed to operate only 25 percent of their branch offices while its central office may operate with 20 percent employees only.
