Notice on Further Extension of Countrywide Lockdown

The Government of Nepal ("GON") on May 17, 2020, has made a decision to further extend the ongoing countrywide lockdown till June 2, 2020 in light of an increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal. International borders shall remain sealed and all international flights to Nepal shall be suspended for such period.

The GON has partially eased the lockdown condition allowing the transportation of essential goods, including food and medicine and the operation of development projects including national pride project, hydropower, irrigation and drinking water project, airport, roads and bridges construction project and other urban infrastructural project provided that the number of workers at a single time shall not exceed ten. Further, essential public services such as bank and financial services, insurance, securities exchange may provide services through a maximum of one-third employees.

The GON Order on lockdown came into force from March 24, 2020 and has been extended for the sixth time.
